The vast majority of cameras that used 110 "instamatic" film were cheaply produced and used low grade lenses and exposure controls. This generally results in poorer quality, grainy and softer images when compared to regular 35mm or larger films. The small size (13mm x 17mm) also produces smaller sized images, which is why we only scan 110 film at our highest resolution of 4000DPI.

What we do
All the 110 film that we receive require some form of correction either due to colour shifting, scratches and dust collection, so every film goes through the following processes:
- Physical cleaning before loading into the scanner
- Cropping to remove film or frame borders
- Red-eye removal done by hand
- Automated scratch and dust removal
- Automated colour corrections
- Automated contrast correction

Our team of experienced technicians examine each scanned image and make any necessary repairs to remove any stubborn marks not removed by the automated software. They also ensure the colours and contrast levels are set correctly by making subtle tweaks to improve the look and feel of the image.
Automatic Vs Manual - The difference
As you can see the standard image is certainly acceptable, but our technicians have lightly tweaked the colours and contrast levels to give a better overall feel to the image.
