All films and photos deteriorate over time, colours change and fade, films take on a red or blur colour cast and surface damage occurs. Old films and slides tend to lighten (or darken depending on the film type) and can begin to attract mould growth which feeds on the chemicals on the film surface.
Finish processing, either Automatic or Manual is an essential part of restoring the images back to their original state, or in some cases better than the original.
Our automatic finishing service uses software to automatically restore the colours and contrast levels to their original state, giving generally excellent results. Where as with our Manual service, as the name suggests, we manually check each image and adjust the colours and contrast by hand.

What do we recommend?
If you are planning on editing the photos yourself using a suitable software application, such as Adobe Photoshop ®, then you can opt for a "Digitize only" scan. As the name suggests we scan the film or slide to digital, but perform no colour processing processing or contrast / brightness fixes to the image thus leaving you with the RAW output from the scanner. Digitize only scans reduce the unit price, but will require you to colour fix the images yourself before they are suitable for viewing.
The digitize only scan is only suitable if you are planning on editing the images yourself, if the images are not edited the results will likely be disappointing.
